How to Activate HTTPS on Blogger Custom Domains

Few days ago, Blogger added a long-awaited feature for custom domains. Now Blogger offers you the opportunity to test the HTTPS protocol for blogs with a custom domain.

1. To make the HTTPS option available for your blog, go to the user settings and switch to Blogger draft.

Dashboard ► Settings ► User Settings ► General ► Use Blogger Draft ► Yes.

Since then, the HTTPS option will be available for your blog.

2. Now go to Dashboard ► Settings ► Basic ► HTTPS.

3. Change "HTTPS Availability" to "Yes" and wait few minutes until Blogger generate a SSL certificate for your domain.

4. After that you can see the HTTPS Redirect option for your custom domain. change "HTTPS Redirect" to "Yes".

Now you have successfully activated a SSL Certificate / HTTPS for your blog with a custom domain.

According to a Blogger developer:

Due to the large number of custom domain blogs, Blogger will gradually and safely launch the feature into the default interface starting in the first quarter of 2018.

How to use Blogger HTTPS Redirect Setting

A few months ago, Blogger began rolling out HTTPS support for blogspot domain blogs so you could try it out. A few days ago, they launched another milestone: an HTTPS version for every blogspot domain blog. With this change, visitors can access into any blogspot domain blog over an encrypted channel.

As a part of this update, they removed the HTTPS Availability on/off setting. Even if you did not previously turn on this Blogger setting, your blogs will have an HTTPS version enabled.

Try it out adding "https" to your site URL: https://YOURBLOGNAME.blogspot.com

But your visitors still can access into your blog without "https": http://YOURBLOGNAME.blogspot.com

If you don't want to keep both "http" and "https" versions of your blog, now there is a setting available to redirect all visitors to the HTTPS version of your blog. To do this,

1. Sign in to your Blogger account.

2. Select the blog clicking on the name of it.

3. Now go to "Settings" > "Basic" > "HTTPS".

4. In "HTTPS Redirect", select "Yes".

Note:
If HTTPS Redirect is turned on, visitors to your blog will always go to https://YOURBLOGNAME.blogspot.com.

If HTTPS Redirect is turned off:
Visitors to http://YOURBLOGNAME.blogspot.com will be served over HTTP, an unencrypted connection. Visitors to https://YOURBLOGNAME.blogspot.com will be served over HTTPS, an encrypted connection.

HTTPS will not be available for blogs with a custom domain. (Currently, HTTPS is only supported for Blogspot domain blogs.)

Google's safe browsing technology provides a great tool called "Malware Checker" to check whether a website is currently dangerous to visit. Google checks billions of URLs per day looking for unsafe websites. Every day, they discover thousands of new unsafe sites, many of which are legitimate websites that have been compromised. How To Enable HTTPS Support in Blogger

HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) is an internet communication protocol that protects the integrity and confidentiality of your users' data between the user's computer and the site. For example, when a user enters data into a form on your site in order to subscribe to updates or purchase a product, HTTPS protects that user's personal information between the user and the site. To enable HTTPS for your Blogger blog follow the steps given below:

1. Sign in to your Blogger account.

2. Select the blog (clicking on the name of your blog) to enable HTTPS support.

3. Now go to "Settings" > "Basic" > "HTTPS Settings".

4. In "HTTPS Availability", select "Yes".

When you enable HTTPS, your blog will become accessible over both HTTP and HTTPS connections.

Visitors can view your blog over an encrypted connection by visiting https://YOURBLOG.blogspot.com.

Note: HTTPS will not be available for blogs with a custom domain. (Currently, HTTPS is only supported for Blogspot domain blogs.)

To disable HTTPS, follow the 1, 2 and 3 steps again and select "No" for HTTPS Availability. If you disable HTTPS, visitors will be redirected to the unencrypted HTTP version of your blog.

How to Create an Addon Domain in Hostgator cPanel

We can introduce an addon domain as a fully functional domain name that can be created from within your control panel(cpanel). Addon domain is a new, unique website hosted in a separate folder is created in the 'public_html' directory on your hosting account, so that you can host several domains (a primary domain and addon domain) from one control panel. You can give an addon domain email addresses, forwarders, and more the same way as a primary domain on your account. This tutorial will show you how to create an addon domain in Hostgator control panel.

Importnat: Your doamin name must be assigned to your hosting account before it can be used as an addon domain. For more information about assigning a domain (setting nameservers to your domain), please see the article, Adding Nameservers to a Domain

After assign your domain to hosting account, login to your Hostgator control panel.

Now click on "Addon Domains" under the "Domains" section:

Next, you will be asked to fill out the details of the add-on domain.

Fill your addon domain details as the example below:

Click on "Add Domain".

You will see addon domain creation completed message.

Now click on "Go Back" and you will see your newly created addon domain.

How to Add Nameservers to a GoDaddy Domain

If you buy your domain name through GoDaddy and web space from another web hosting provider like Hostgator, then you need to setup your domain name's nameservers properly to connect your domain with hosting account. This easy to follow tutorial will show you how to connect your nameservers with your GoDaddy domain name. Each step has explained with pictures, but if you need any help related to this tutorial don't forget to leave a comment below.

First go to your GoDaddy account. Click on "DOMAINS".

Click on "Launch" button of your domain name.

In next page, your GoDaddy Domain Name Details will be displayed.

Under "Domain Settings" -> "Nameservers", you can see current default nameservers for your domain name.

Click on "Manage". Now you will see a window similar to this:

Select nameserver "Setup type" as "Custom" and Click "Add Nameserver".

Now add your new namerserver details like this:

Click "OK".

Now new nameservers will be displayed under custom nameservers details. Click "Save".

Wait few minutes until domain settings has been updated and now new nameservers will be displayed under "Domain Settings" -> "Nameservers".

Now you have successfully added your nameservers to GoDaddy.

When someone enter my naked domain into his browser he will be automatically redirect to my non-naked domain.The purpose of this article is how to configure your GoDaddy domain name such as my domain name.

1.Login to your GoDaddy account and click on domain tab. Click on the "Advanced details" link of the domain you want to configure.

2.Click on "Manage" from Forwarding Section.

3. A new window will appear.Enter your domain name exactly as the example below (with www) and click "OK".

Result:

4.You are done !!! Then wait few minutes(maximum 24 hours), and your naked domain will work as your non-naked domain.

How To Transfer a Domain Name Between 2 GoDaddy Accounts

If you want to transfer a GoDaddy domain name from one of your account to another your Godaddy account, this tutorial will help you to do it. It's called an Account Change. Also if you want to sell your domain name to another GoDaddy customer, steps are same to this tutorial.

For example, consider your 2 GoDaddy accounts as G1 and G2. Domain name you want to move is http://www.mydomain.com/. You want move this domain from G1 GoDaddy account to G2 GoDaddy account.

1. Log in to your G1 GoDaddy Account Manager.

2. In the My Products section, click Domain Manager.

3. Select/Click on the domain name you want to move.

4. In next page, Click on Account Change.

5. In New registrant's Customer ID or login name, enter the new registrant's account information and click "Next".

6. Now Read the "Domain Name Change of Registrant Agreement" and, if you agree to the terms, select "I have read and agree to the Domain Name Change..."

If you want to transfer your domain name during the 60-day period, you should decline the Change of Registrant and transfer your domain name before updating the Organization, First name, or Last name fields. Otherwise, select "I understand that, if I want to transfer this domain...."

7. Click "Finish".

8. Click "OK".

Wait 20-30 minutes. GoDaddy will email informing you,there's a pending domain name move for your G2 GoDaddy account.

9. Log in to your G2 GoDaddy Account Manager.

10. In the My Account section on the left panel, click "Pending Account Changes."

11. Click on "Incoming Account Changes."

12. Check the domains that you agree to change and then click "Quick Accept"

13. Accept the agreements and click "OK."

The domains will be processed and should appear in your G2 GoDaddy account shortly.

How To Create/Setup Sub-Domain in GoDaddy

In previous article I explain how to create a sub-domain with Enom.Today I am going to explain to how create/setup a sub domain with GoDaddy.If you registered your domain with GoDaddy and want create sub-domains from your custom domain,then this article will guide you for it.So read the article carefully and follow the steps correctly.There is not hard thing to do.

For easy explanation if we think your domain is "123.com" and you want to make a subdomain as "blog.123.com".

1.First login to your GoDaddy Account.

2.Now click on the "Advanced details" link of the domain you want to configure.

3.Now click on "Total DNS Control" from Total DNS section.

4.You can see a screen look like below:

Under "CNAMES (Aliases)" section, click on "Add New CNAME Record".

5.In next window Enter the below detail for your sub-domain.

Alias Name : blog (Instead of "blog",enter your sub-domain here)

Host Name : ghs.google.com

6.Now click OK.

You are done.Now you can add your new sub domain to a another site/blogger blog.

How to Add a Sub-domain to a Custom Domain in Enom

In this article I hope to explain how to get a sub-domain(s) for your custom domain.If you get your custom domain name through google/blogger.com and your domain host is enom ,then you can follow the steps below to get a sub domain for your custom domain.

For a example if we think your domain is "123.com" and you want to get sub-domain from this domain like "blog.123.com".

1.First login to your google apps account using below URL:

https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/123.com/DomainSettingsAdvancedDns

Note : Replace "123.com" with your domain name.Look at the example below:

https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/premiumbloggertemplates.com/DomainSettingsAdvancedDns

Now you can see a screen look like below one:

2.Sign in using your username and password.Next screen will look like this:

3.Click on "Sign in to DNS console".

4.Now login to your enom account using your Domain and Password.

5.Click on the 'Edit' button under the 'Host Records' section.

6.Click 'Add New'.

7.Add your sub-domain name, for example, 'blog' under the 'Host Name' field.

8.Add ghs.google.com. under 'Address' field.

9.Select CNAME (Alias) under 'Record Type' field.

10.Now again click 'Add New'.

11.Add 'www.blog' under the 'Host Name' field.

12.Add ghs.google.com. under 'Address' field.

13.Select CNAME (Alias) under 'Record Type' field.

Your final work will look like this:

14.Click 'Save'.

You are done with Enom.

15.Login to your blogger dashboard--> settings- ->Publishing

16.Now Click on "Custom Domain".

17.Now Click on " Switch to advanced settings".

18.Now you must enter your domain name as the picture below:

19.Now click on "Save Settings".

20.Again tick "Redirect blog.123.com to www.blog.123.com" and click on "Save Settings".

21.Wait few hours.You are done.

Note: Now try to go to your sub domain.If it works fine,no problem.But It still doesn't work,again "Switch to: blogspot.com (Blogger's free hosting service)".

22.Now repeat steps 15-20 again.You are done.
